Here are some frequently asked questions I often get asked about my recycling
How do you recycle your offcuts?
I put my acrylic offcuts in between aluminum plates and put them in my heat press. My heat press heats up to 210 degrees and I have a hydraulic pump which pushes the plates together. The acrylic is heated and is squished at the same time. It requires lots of pressure and time to squish to the required thickness, usually 3mm. When the acrylic has been heated and squished I turn the heat press off and let the acrylic cool down under pressure. If I take the acrylic out too soon it will distort and not stay flat.
How may times can you recycle acrylic?
As acrylic is a thermo plastic it can be reheated and reformed many times. The offcuts from the recycled sheets can be resquished many times, that’s why it’s such a lovely material - it is 100% recyclable.
Do you recycle acrylic for other people?
Yes I do. If you have acrylic offcuts you want to recycle get in touch at laserlydesigns@gmail.com and we can have a chat. My terms and conditions for recycling can be found at the bottom of the page.
